The Anchor Clock was built somewhere around 1911 and 1917 by plans made of the painter Franz von Matsch. The clock is situated in the oldest square district in Vienna - 'Hoher Markt' and represents what is a typical Art Noveaue design.
The construction itself forms a bridge between two parts of the building by Anker Insurance Company. The clock itself is engraved with various mosaic elements.
Belvedere Palace actually consists of 2 palaces situated in a beautiful park area. Palace was built for Prince Eugene of Savoy by famous architect of the Baroque era - JL von Hilderbrandt. In the past the palace was located outside of the main city of Vienna but nowadays it is not very far from the center of the city. Internal architecture and design are typical for Rococo style.
Hofburg Castle is medieval building but nowadays only small part of it show that. The castle was extended to have residence when the power of Habsburgs increased and that is one of the reasons why you may find very different architectural styles in it. It goes from gothic to new art. Today this large complex is housing the National Library, Imperial Treasure, Museum of Ethnography, a lot of musical instruments and weapons and the famous Spanish Riding School.
It is a place you must visit the first time you go to Vienna.
The Prater is one of the symbols of Vienna. Part of its popular fun fair. Upon visiting it you can enjoy great view of Vienna from above on its big Ferris wheel. You can also relax or do sport activities in the park area and forest lands. The complex is situated near the main center of the city and is perfect for walking, jogging or just enjoying a fine summer day on the nearby grass fields.
